Composed as a get well email for Tory Rhoden’s mom, Martha Pereson
Sculling?
‘Twas reported you had a mighty fine stroke
At first we thought it a giggle, a joke.
As minds imagined, defined and grappled
Visions of Martha, in Speedo, quite dapper!
Martha, row the boat ashore, oars gleaming and wet
Guiness world record, she aims to set.
A double take, come again? Oh, the meaning is clear
Body betrayed, never a boat could you steer.
Left side of your body, not in it’s right mind,
Laid stubborn, unmoving, by the effects of time.
We are amazed: How motivated you are
Before long, you’ll be sending us har-dee-har-har’s!
However disgruntled and struggling with fear
God is in charge, and He’s standing so near.
Rehab is taxing, but you’re up to the challenge
Prayers coming your way, gives strength by the gallons.
Grandkids miss hugs. Can’t give up, no such thing
They’re watching and waiting for Grandma to ring.
Put strokes of the brain out of your mind
Use only for hair, kudos, customs and kind.
Only one job, yet left to do:
Blood, sweat and tears, you might feel like poo.
Rewards for your work, in spades what you’ll have
More time with family and your gift of gab.
